Shannon Waltchack/TCN Worldwide Broker Elected to The University Of The South’s Board Of Trustees

Birmingham native George B. Elliott, Jr. was recently elected by the school’s alumni network to the Board of Trustees of The University of the South at Sewanee. George has been actively involved at Sewanee since his high school years at Sewanee Academy (now St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School) and as a member of the class of 1981 at the University. He has deep family roots at Sewanee – his father attended the school as well as his wife Shirley and son Stephen.

“I am humbled and honored to have been selected by my fellow alumni to serve Sewanee in this way,” Elliott said.

“George is truly one of the finest people I know,” said Partner Len Shannon. “His high standards and character have made him a top person of influence in our industry for over 30 years,” Shannon said.

Sewanee has had 26 Rhodes Scholars—a number that puts Sewanee in the top four nationally among American liberal arts colleges—as well as 34 NCAA Postgraduate Fellows, 47 Watson Fellows, and dozens of Fulbright Scholars, and has an acceptance rate to graduate and professional schools that far outpaces its peers.
