Norris & Stevens, Inc. Announces Renewal of Downtown Portland Office Lease Upon 60th Anniversary

Norris & Stevens, Inc. has renewed their lease of suite 1700 at Standard Center, located at 900 SW Fifth Avenue in downtown Portland, Oregon. The lease renewal begins the same month as the company’s 60th anniversary in June 2026.

Due to the company’s continuous growth and need for more space, Norris & Stevens first moved into Standard Center in September 2015, making this the company’s first renewal at the property. The space will undergo an extensive renovation to modernize and maximize the space, beginning in the summer of 2026.

“We have enjoyed a ten-year relationship with The Standard as Landlord and even though we looked around for options in both the central business district and suburbs, at the end of the day we felt that making a renewed commitment to downtown Portland, and continuing our relationship with The Standard and their great building complex, was the best decision for Norris & Stevens, Inc. both professionally and economically” said Timothy S. Mitchell, the company’s President.

“We’re excited to have Norris & Stevens, a trusted partner and tenant over many years, renew their lease at Standard Center,” said Chris Beaulieu, executive vice president and chief investment officer at The Standard. “Congratulations to everyone at Norris & Stevens on 60 years of business and thank you for your sustained presence in downtown Portland.”

Norris & Stevens was founded in 1966 by Dick Norris and Jack Stevens. While working for the commercial real estate firm Norris, Beggs & Simpson, Dick Norris decided it was time to break off and start his own firm. He asked the company’s top salesman Jack Stevens to join him, and Norris & Stevens was born. Following the untimely passing of Dick Norris five years later, Jack Stevens became the sole owner, dedicating himself to building a firm anchored in deep local market expertise and uncompromised client service.

Over the years, the commercial sales and leasing division has grown to more than 30 specialist brokers across the office, retail, industrial, and multi-family sectors. Closing an average of 350 sale and lease transactions annually throughout Oregon and southwest Washington, the team is highly regarded for its sharp market intelligence, skillful negotiations, and trusted industry reputation.

The firm expanded its reach in 1972 with the arrival of Brian Bjornson, who was brought on to manage a modest portfolio of residential properties. Under his strategic leadership, the property management division expanded dramatically to complement the firm’s core brokerage operations. Today, Norris & Stevens proudly manages over 200 multi-family apartment communities stretching from Astoria to Roseburg, alongside more than 150 commercial properties throughout the Willamette Valley.

“At Norris & Stevens, our legacy isn’t simply measured by the many properties we manage or the transactions we close. It is defined by a steadfast, decades-long commitment to the clients, neighborhoods, and economies that make Portland, Oregon, and southwest Washington thrive. We look forward to another successful 60 years, and of being a partner in the greater community” said David Keys, the company’s chairman and CEO.

Norris & Stevens, Inc. is one of Portland’s largest locally-owned, full service commercial real estate companies, serving clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies, small business owners, and individual investors.

In the renewal of the lease at Standard Center, shareholders Timothy Mitchell and Greg Nesting represented Norris & Stevens, Inc. in the transaction, while The Standard was represented by Joe Beehler and Kevin Kaufman. The company is committed to calling Standard Center its home for another 7 years.

Norris & Stevens, Inc. is one of the largest locally-owned, full-service commercial real estate brokerage firms in Oregon and SW Washington.
