(Indianapolis, Indiana)—Downtown is buzzing with renewed energy as offices reopen & businesses return to the heart of the city. The iconic Guaranty Building, a cornerstone of our Monument Circle landscape, is leading the charge with a mix of new & returning retail & office tenants, solidifying its status as a premier business hub. This year The Guaranty Building will celebrate its 101st birthday. Notably, one of its long-standing tenants, Windsor Jewelers, is celebrating a remarkable 100-anniversary, 40 of which have been as a resident at The Guaranty.
The reopening of downtown offices signals a pivotal moment in the city’s post-pandemic recovery. Businesses are eager to resume operations in the vibrant downtown area, & the Guaranty Building stands at the forefront of this revival. Known for its historic charm & modern amenities, the building has been a magnet for enterprises looking to thrive in a dynamic location.

Amidst the influx of new businesses & opportunities, the Guaranty Building proudly celebrates over 100 years of one of its distinguished tenants:
Windsor Jewelry—Windsor has been the premier jewelry store in Downtown Indianapolis since 1919 & has been a tenant at The Guaranty Building for over 40 years. They are officially the oldest tenant.
Nicky Blaine’s Cocktail Lounge—Nicky Blaine’s is a full-service nightclub & lounge featuring martinis, a fully stocked scotch bar, & an extensive array of cigars.

About The Guaranty Building:
By the time the Guaranty Building was completed in 1923, it was nine stories tall & stood 132 feet high, still safely under the new 150-foot limit established to keep buildings on the Circle from overshadowing the Indiana Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument. Two extra floors added $120,000 to the original $860,000 price tag. Other changes to the plans included having the exterior of the building finished in gray/brown limestone instead of white terra cotta & upgrading the lobby & the wainscoting in the upper halls with Italian marble. There would be “four large store rooms fronting on Meridian Street, one store room with an entrance on the Circle and a main entrance on Meridian Street leading to four high-speed elevators & a stairway.”
The architectural firm behind the Guaranty building project was Rubush & Hunter, a high-profile player in the construction industry from 1905 to 1938. Their firm is represented on three of the four quadrants of the Circle with Circle Tower( 55 Monument Circle), Circle Theater (45 Monument Circle), and Columbia Club (121 Monument Circle). Other Rubush & Hunter projects include Indiana Theater (134 West Washington Street), Madame C.J. Walker Theatre (617 Indiana Avenue), and (Old) City Hall (212 North Alabama Street).
